How to use your resources to become a voice actor

cameronleeva

Voice acting is a profession that used to have little to no information on how to get into the industry. The common consensus was that you just had to know the right people. Though it was a big part of the job, that was not the case.

But how do you become a voice actor? And where do you find the information you need? With Google there is, as of 2013 ten exabytes or ten million terabytes of data stored in its servers. Even the small portion of that that goes to voice acting resources holds a lot of information. All it takes is a little search.

Dee Bradley Baker is a voice actor known for his roles in Space Jam (Daffy Duck, Taz and Toro), American Dad (Klaus Heisler), Overwatch (Hammond) and much more.

He took his resources and expertise and became one of the first to put that information into a website and step by step forum that helped people learn how to become a voice actor for cartoons. He then grew that website to talk about how to get voice over work in general and even talks about the do’s and don’ts of auditioning.

Descript (audio and video editing), Backstage (casting call forum), Voices.com (casting call forum), and even Indeed are some of the groups that have stepped up alongside and followed Baker’s lead to provide even more information on getting into voice acting. Get started on your voice acting journey with just a little search.
